Glendale Community College Hosts Critical Dialogue Series on Gender and Sexuality

Critical Dialogues Signs

Glendale Community College (GCC) is hosting their 5th annual Critical Dialogue series, “Gender and Sexuality: Current Controversies and the Common Good,” on Feb. 27, 2018. Four special guests will speak on the topic of same-sex marriage and transgenderism, followed by a debate, and questions from the audience.

Sponsored by the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department, the series highlights current, social controversies to show audiences that you can debate topics rationally and respectfully.

The panelists and discussion topics are as follows:

  • Jeffery J. Ventrella, J.D. Ph.D., Sr. Vice President in Training for Alliance Defending Freedom – “Telos, Technos, and Truth: What is Mankind For??!!”
  • Richard Klaus, Chapter Director at Ratio Christi – “Culture Conflict Regarding Sexuality: Philosophical Roots of our Current Debates”
  • Dr. Jeanne Saint-Amour, Philosophy Professor at GCC – “Biomedical Approaches to Transgenderism and other Variations in Sexual Expression”
  • Peter Lupu, Philosophy Professor at GCC – “Is there a Problem about Transgenderism? and Beyond…

The event is free and open to the public. It will take place from 1 – 3:30 p.m. in SU 104 (D&E) at 6000 W. Olive Ave. Glendale, AZ 85302.
