Embrace Art and Attend the 13th Annual Eric Fischl Lecture Series

Graphic of art by Eric Fischl

Each spring since 2005, Phoenix College (PC) and renowned painter, author, and PC alum Eric Fischl come together to host the annual Eric Fischl Lecture Series and Student Art Awards. To honor the influence PC has had on his life, Fischl brings world-famous artists as guests, promotes dialogue about diverse art perspectives, mentors aspiring artists, and announces the PC student Vanguard Award winners.

The 2018 series takes place on April 18, 2018 and will feature contemporary artist José Lerma.  Drawing inspiration from his personal history, and historical events and figures, Lerma presents an innovative approach to painting and portraiture. Originally from Seville, Spain, Lerma serves as a Professor of Painting at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and is represented by Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York City.

For the past 12 years, this event has drawn hundreds of students, artists, and community members from across the city and state. Fischl and his guests are shaping the future of art in Arizona and beyond by providing life-changing opportunities for students and the art community.

The reception begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a lecture and the announcement of the Vanguard Award Winners at 7 p.m. at the Phoenix Art Museum in the Whiteman Hall located at 1625 N. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85004. Reserve your tickets today. Maricopa Community College students, faculty, and staff can attend for free by using the code pcfischl2018.
