Celebrate Inclusiveness Month with Scottsdale Community College

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusiveness with tailored events throughout the month of April. These events, filled with exhibitions and entertainment, are designed to showcase the college’s commitment to inclusiveness, sustainability, and cultural awareness.

April 2-27, 2018: Inclusiveness Display

  • The SCC library is exhibiting photos, posters, and memorabilia that represents inclusiveness.

April 5, 2018: Diversity Leadership Alliance Workshop

  • Interactive and interpersonal skill-building event hosted by the Diversity Leadership Alliance, community members, and SCC.

  • Turquoise Room, 8 a.m. to noon.

April 5, 2018: Racism: Winners and Losers?

  • A Dialogue Across Differences event hosted by the Council of Student Leaders and moderated by Jacque Starks, Diversity Coordinator at Maricopa Community Colleges.

  • Turquoise Room, 1:30 - 3 p.m.

April 5, 2018: Retro Muse

  • An open mic forum, themed “Expressions of Inclusion,” for SCC artists to showcase their writing, poetry, music, acting and other talents.

  • LC Courtyard, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

April 9-14, 2018: Sixth Annual Genocide Awareness Week

  • Presentations, exhibits, and displays will take place throughout the week that examine genocides committed in history and present day

April 11, 2018: “Los Que Se Quedan” (Those Who Remain) Film Screening

  • This film reflects the impact of migration on the families and villages left behind by those who traveled north for work.

  • LC383, 6 p.m.

April 19, 2018: The In Thing

  • A signature festival event including:

    • Student club, cultural fair, and activities

    • Mr. and Miss Indian performance and blessing

    • Indigenous Enterprise Dance Troupe performance

    • Salsa and Cumbia Dance Lessons

    • SCC Dance Department Performance
