Acclaimed creator, author, and Director of Intercollegiate eSports at Boise State University Dr. Chris Haskell will speak about his innovative approach to 21st century learners at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) on March 29, 2018.

Dr. Haskell revolutionized his teaching through the use of video games, virtual worlds, social media, and digital culture. By creating a digital space for students to interact and learn in, these in-game classrooms expand educational opportunities not seen in traditional school settings.

Dr. Haskell will hold two sessions. The first, from 1-2:30 p.m., is tailored for faculty and staff and the second, from 4-7 p.m., will cater to students. However, all interested parties are welcome and encouraged to attend both sessions.

During his first session in the Agave Community Room, Dr. Haskell will discuss the impact his educational approach has had on students and how other teachers can implement these practices into their classrooms. For his second session in the Student Center Pavilion, Dr. Haskell will engage students in dialog about learning and potential opportunities in the eSports arena, known as competitive video gaming.
