Artists of Promise - Film, Animation, and Media Arts Competition

Overview
Each year, the Maricopa Community Colleges sponsor a district-wide competition to encourage and recognize student achievement in the following categories:
- Animation (Experimental, montage, simple story)
- Narrative/Fiction Film and Media
- Documentary/Nonfiction Film and Media
- Video Game Design
First Place students will be featured at the Virtual Artists of Promise Event in April 2022.
Competition Details
The Film, Animation, and Media Arts is an exciting competition designed to showcase contemporary videos. It recognizes student achievement in the following categories:
- Animation: Experimental, montage, simple story
- Showcase animation skills
- Narrative/Fiction Film and Media
- Showcase scripting, directing, lighting, editing, and acting
- Maximum 30 minutes
- Documentary/Nonfiction Film and Media
- Showcase production skills and content
- Maximum 30 minutes
- Video Game Design
- Showcase video game design and interactive digital media
Student submissions must be created as part of a class while the student is was enrolled at Maricopa Community Colleges during the previous year (spring 2021 semester, summer 2021 semester, fall 2021 semester, spring 2022 semester). No more than two (2) entries per student per category.
Work done by a student not related to the classroom content is not eligible.
All winning entries may require editing for final screening.
Submission and Judging Process
Entry Process Opens: December 7, 2021
Student Entry Deadline: March 21, 2022

Awards
- First-place work in each category will be featured at the Virtual Artists of Promise Gala scheduled in April 2022.
- Winning students will only be recognized once per category.
- All awards will be issued shortly after the Artists of Promise exhibition. (Groups will share award)
- $300 for first place;
- $200 for second place;
- $100 for third place
